赤祖父俊一 （地球物理学者）1930年〜 アラスカにおける北極研究も半世紀以上。 主体は、 オーロラ研究に関する科学的業績。 特に被引用数が多いのは1964年頃の『オーロラ嵐（サブストーム）』に関する研究。 陣頭指揮し、1999年国際北極圏研究センター（IARC）設立。 アラスカの新聞に出る｢オーロラ予報」。 太陽風からの地球到達時間を計算し、オーロラの発生予測するシステムを開発。 オーロラで起こる通信障害や、太陽風による宇宙での人体への悪影響も、予想できるようになった。 参考：南極でおなじみの日本の昭和基地。 南極のオーロラ研究の歴史etcについては、 『南極におけるオーロラ研究- 極地研究所 - 国立極地研究所』で検索。 |
